Default C5 Brakes on Trans AM

OK i've searched so i'm not putting my flame suit on, deal with it

I have the c5 brakes (front/rear calipers and rotors plus pads) and i want to bolt them up to my fbody (t/a). I called LG motorsports and dude told me the bracket kit was something like 250 including all the bolts. He said they only have the brackets for the front brakes. so does that mean i can't put the rear c5 brakes on my car? Someone who has full knowlege on this with their zo6 or c5 brakes please give me a detail description of what the dealio is.

I read about some other guy from tennessee speedsports was selling the brackets but they went out of business much to my dismay especially bc i'm located about 25 minuets from their previous location. just great...

If its gonna cost me 250 just to slap the fronts on i'm selling these bitches so somebody let me know what my options are. thank u all for ur time.

Yep, you are going to need those brackets if you wish to run the larger rotors in the front. Another place has begun selling those brackets, but they charge more than LG does.

You might be in new territory for the rears.

It's just 2 bolts. Try it and see.

Since the bracket is only used so you can run a bigger rotor, you can just slap the calipers on without the larger rotors and still have better braking.

The back brake caliper on a F-Body is virtually identical to a Corvette. Is it just he colro issue?

I have C5 fronts and Camaro rear brakes on my SS.

The front brakes need a bracket, the rears should bolt right up. The only difference in the rear brakes on the F-body and Y-body is how the caliper is made. Same deminsions if im not mistaken.

The bracket from LG is $400, not $250. You will need it to adapt the front brakes (rotors + calipers). Rear brakes, unknown. You can swap the caliper, but I've never seen a C5 rotor on the rear of an f-body. I doubt it matters anyway, C5 rotors are the same diameter I believe.

If you just want to put the calipers on, go ahead. They are a direct swap. There is no improvement except for a supposedly better casting process (you will not tell the difference, they just resist head spreading better).

i have powerslots so i don't really care about the c5 rotors. i was home today and i pulled off one of the front calipers and found that the c5 calipers bolt right up to the stock f-body brake caliper brackets with no modifications.

I think i'm just gonna paint them gloss black and sand down to the aluminum corvette lettering then clear coat em for bling factor. mabey polish the brackets.

Does anyone have pictures of these brackets?
I installed F-body brackets, calipers, rotors, and pads on the front of my 99 Regal GS, and was interested in going one more step, up to C5 brakes.
I emailed LG a few days ago, but haven't received a response yet.

if you want the adapters that allow you to use c5 rotors on an F-body, put your name on this list:

I am not sure that removing material, or potentially structural material, from calipers is a good idea. If you do it, I'd make sure you polish everything and avoid leaving grinding marks (that is where cracks can start).

My thoughts.

These C5/Z06 brakes seem great, however I have two questions to ask. Does anybody here know if they fit under the stock 17" (5 spoke) WS6 wheels? (without the use of spacers i mean) And do the brackets require modifing the spindles on an '02 TA?

lee, they fit under stock 17 inch f-body rims without spacers. you have to cut a small part of the spindle. hacksaw or sawzall will do it easy.

I got a conflicing answer form LG saying that it was not necessary for my '02. that the brackets bolt right on. I sent another e-mail for clarification. This is a real sticking point for me. I don't like no turning back upgrades.

lee, i was referring to the bob bishop adapter. his adapter uses c5 calipers and requires cutting the spindle slightly. LG's kit i think uses stock f-body calibers and doesn't require cutting, but it is so hard to get product info from them.

well, here goes. LG told me $300 for the brackets, which is it? I emailed them like 6 times over the course of 2 month and NEVER got a reply. Great Service. When I did call, the guy kept holding the phone out away from him asking everyone that passed him if the had the brackets, and how much they were

Thanks for the info 2MCHPWR!
Too bad there's no way those brackets will fit on my hubs.
My only hope are the LG brackets. Too bad there's no info on thier site and they don't return emails!

So here is the answer I got from Lou Gigliotti:

Hi,
Yes we do, and no it doesn't require any modifying.

Give us a call if you would like to order one.

Original e-mail:

I've heard that you have the Z06/C5 braket kit available with 13" rotors.
Does installing this kit require modifing the spindle to install the bracket
on an '02 F-Body?
