Default Caliper rubs rotor

This has got to be the strangest issue I have had with brakes. The rotors are slotted (not sure what size) but they have been on the car since I've owned it. A couple of days ago I got on the brakes hard and noticed a grinding noise on the front pass. side. I stopped a got a caliper thinking that it had stuck, took it apart and found grooves from the rotor inside the caliper. I thought that the pins had worn and changed them. This did not cure the problem. The rotor does not rub when the car is in reverse so I'm lost. Thanks in advance.

That doesnt sound good. Could the caliper bracket have broken off on one of the bolts holding it to the spindle/hub area?

No, everything is in place? Thats why I said it was strange! It seems like the small amount of space around the wheel studs could be a factor???

I tried to google what could be the issue. Are you sure you have the right sized rotors on there? You mentioned they were already on there when you got the car

If they are the right size rotors and right size calipers, whatever is taking place is causing the connection between the rotor, hub, spindle, caliper bracket, caliper to not align correctly together. I know.. sorry its vague. Just trying to troubleshoot

Where does it rub? The top, or the sides? Are your slider pins greased?

geez, glad you found that before something bad happened. What happened? Was the bolt ever in there in the first place? How did that fall out?

The bolt had to be...? The rotor rub just happened out of the blue. I guess it was there and when I driving it fell out. Good thing I never throw any car parts/bolts away, I had a 10.9 bolt that fit and shes back on the road
