Spring Choice for DD It's been a month since I been deciding which springs to go with for my 98 Trans Am non WS6. I have added new struts which are Bilstien HD. Which springs would be better for DD and still be able to feel good (don't want original springs no more). |
I've used or ridden in several types of Springs. I bought my 97 car with Hotchkis, and the car was totalled years later. I bought my 01 with some Eibach springs, and within the first month of driving I knew I wanted the Hotchkis back. They've been a good set of springs. |
I too have Hotchkis, though BMR and Strano are very great choices too. |
Our springs have a very good reputation and, along with that reputation, comes the ease of mind of a lifetime warranty. There are springs out there that may offer the look and performance but, over time, can sag. The BMR lower springs will lower the car 1.25-inches front and rear. When you perform the "heater hose mod" you'll get the car to level out and get rid of the natural rake that these cars sit at. They offer a comfortable, sporty ride without being too harsh. Let me know if there is anything you have questions about. No hose mod http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...64792668_n.jpg Hose mod http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...64618330_n.jpg - Kevin |
^I've never been in a car with BMR springs, but I've NEVER heard a complaint about them! |
This info pleases me :) I don't want to race but once a year lol So I just want to keep my car looking nice and riding better than now. People say Stock springs with Bilstein struts feel best but I think its too wiggly...I want firm but not harsh. |
BMRs checking in. Love mine. |

Firm but not harsh. Well, harsh is largely the shocks. And if you ask around you'll find my springs aren't bone jarring (and softer in the rear by about 7% than the closest copy/BMR). A lot of ride quality comes from the rear springs, being a solid axle car and with most of the weight on the front. |
I have stranos and they're pretty nice.. not too harsh IMO, i came from eibachs though, and they rode like shit. Really like the stance of the BMRs though, I sometimes wish my front end was just a tad lower. |
For the best ride quality go with the BMR front 1" lowering A-arms and Stock(free), Hotchkis or possibly BMR rear springs, but for the best handling get Stranos! |
my choice will be made up tomorrow morning :) |
