Great job, really nice! That looks really good. I have the same wheels so I know what mine will look like. That will be NEXT years project, this year is already full. Does it ever end?

I just priced out the CTS-V & Z06 set-up at GM parts direct for $462.00 (no lines) and the 2010 Camaro SS set-up for $684.00 (no lines). So is that CTS-V caliper the same as the 5th gen Camaro, just smaller mounting holes?

I got a great deal on a pair of 5th gen brembo and rotors. Only need to order stainless brake lines and the bolts that mount the calipers to the spindles. Drilling out the spindle holes will be the point of no return once I have all the parts needed.

Hey can you do me favor? I have the CTS-V Brembos and have been trying figure out if they are any different than the gen 5's (besides the mounting hole). If I could get you to measure the distance from the face of the caliper to the mounting pad of the caliper. I then can tell if they are indeed the same, or if one will give you more spoke clearance or not. Check out the photo, CTS-V's are 4 9/16 or 4.558.

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks gm02,

Okay so we are within .016 of each other. So indeed they are the same (except the larger mounting holes and color). Did you get a good deal on them? I bought the CTS-V's because they were cheaper than the gen5's. But I would have perfered the black gen5's that say Camaro.

I would have to agree they appear to be the same caliper except for the diameter of the bolt holes.
I got the barely used pair take-offs calipers with rotors shy of $400 shipped off ebay. I would have gotten the ctsv brakes if I could find them but the price was decent enough not pass on 5th gens. If you wanna toss around the thought of swapping brakes let me know. They already say camaro on them!

I got mine off of Amazon for $250.00 shipped new in the box with pins. Now All I need are gen 5 rotors, pads, lines and some 18" wheels! They would not fit with the stock 17" 10 spoke SS wheels!

Oops... I just look at them and they say chevrolet brembo not camaro. Mine came with the stock camaro rotors, stock lines and brake pads. I already have 18"s. But it seems you got a good price on yours.

Yeah, I did get a good price on the calipers, but by time I buy the rotors ($150.00) lines ($57.00) and pads ($100.00) I will have about $550.00 in to it. But the wheels and tires! are going to be a bit! I really thought I could massage them to fit my 17's. Post up a photo of yours?

i read the CTs-v calipers need to be shimmed forward. i dunno if it has something to do with the rotors used but there is no need to shim the Camaro calipers when using the Camaro rotors.

nmckeever- you've had this set up on the car for awile now...do you have anything to report?? good bad or indifferant??

If you use Camaro SS or CTS-V calipers and Camaro SS rotors there is no need to shim. You only need to shim if you use Z06 rotors. But if you use the Camaro SS rotors you will have to machine in I.D. of the hub to fit a 4th gen. So there it is, use either caliper and shim the caliper for Z06 rotors or machine the Camaro rotors.

Sorry, just seeing this now. No problems of any kind. Car gets beat on a lot (autocross and in the mountains) and the brakes have been awesome. I have so much more confidence at the limit now knowing that the car can stop hard repeatedly. I really like the Hawk HPS pads as well...nice around town but even better when they get hot.

5th gen brake rotor and caliper interchangability....Great to know!

I put CTS-V 6P calipers and rotors on my 5th gen camaro....bolted right up!

That means that I can do the same with my 4th gen.....as long as the 6P fits inside the wheel....but it should right? I have Z06 18s on the front...and they came with 6P calipers......

And the 6P calipers are cheaper than the Camaro 4P ones on Amazon.....
$270 vs. $320

Has anyone seen 6P CTSV cailpers on a 4th gen?
