Default Looking for some info. on lowering springs and shocks

I want to get rid of that ugly wheel gap on my '02 SS. From what I've been reading, when putting on lowering springs, you want to replace the shocks too. I hate make my ride stiffer than it already is, but I'm going for the look. BMR seems to be a popular spring, but as far as the shocks, I'm trying to keep the cost down. Looking for non adjustable. Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

In before all the strano and koni comments. If you have the dough obviously those are the choice. Budget shocks are billstein or kyb.

Strano or BMR springs with Koni shocks. If you can't afford the Koni Sports then the STR.Ts are the next best option. Same price as Bilsteins but much better based on peoples feedback so far.

Yeah, Koni is definitely out of my range. I would like to just leave the stock shocks, but from what I read, it's a big no no. Is there a certain line of bilstein shock that's best? And for those of you that have done this, how hard do your kidneys suffer from lowering your car?

If you can afford Bilstein why can't you afford Koni STR.Ts...?

I haven't priced the bilsteins yet because there are a ton of different options and don't know which one to look at. The Konis look like they are gonna be $550+ for the front and rear. Ouch! I would love to not buy shocks at all, but it sounds like it's gonna be a rough ride if I don't.

385+ shipping is the price I was thinking too. Not sure where you saw 550. But yeah they're a somewhat new shock and I guess they've been selling well. Really bummed that they're out of stock till February... I was planning to get a set in December as a Christmas present to myself... lol guess not.

Strano springs and bilstein shocks for overall appearance and performance IMO. I honestly prefer the look of Eibach pro's/bilstein but the performance is not there for the rear.

After days of research, I'm still undecided. If somebody has a link to a GREAT deal on bilstein shocks, please post. For now, I'm looking at KYB's options. I don't want an adjustable shock, just a decent all around upgrade from stock shocks to go with the BMR springs. This is a daily driver and rarely sees the track. If anybody has pics of a BMR/KYB set up, please post! Thanks!

Don't get KYBs. I have them on my Nissan. They are a monotube shock and they don't dampen worth a flip with excessive spring rates.

I'd look at a monotube like Bilstein, or, I actually prefer a twin tube on the street. They are able to react to the road a bit better IMO. Koni Sports are twins. I'm not sure if the STR.T are or not. But, for a non-adjustable shock, the Koni STR.T would be my choice followed by custom valved Bilsteins designed around your springs/usage.

IMO, KYBs suck. get Bilsteins or if in stock the Koni STR.T's .
Bilsteins, in order by lowest price.

Since you are looking for something more budget oriented I would definitely recommend the Bilsten shocks and our BMR lowering springs. This combination will give you the lowered look you are going for and will still offer a good ride. If there is anything we can help you out with let us know.

I have the same question OP. I'm going with BMR for springs, and I'm looking for the best vendor/shocks to go with some new springs. I need new shocks badly
