Default BMR lowering a-arms just ordered

We'll guys I just ordered the lowering a-arms from bmr (aa020h) today for my 02' SS. I have already lowered the car with BMR's lowering springs, and front and rear bilstein shocks. I also removed the rear spring isolaters and did the heater hose mod, I'll be posting photos of the new look soon. I noticed after looking at the lt1 of mine next to this ls1 that the ls1 sits higher in the rear and the front (same lowering springs and shocks installed on both cars), so it was time to change that. Thanks to BMR this SS should have a really aggressive stance by this weekend

I have them, they are great. I may actually put in a 1/4 UMI spacer under each shock.

Mine sits low and due to the spring and the a arms, I have minor some bump steer issues. Gonna fix that with some Baer bump steer tie rods that are on the way.

Quality pieces though.

I am glad we were able to help you out and get you taken care of. Definitely post some pics once you get your BMR 1" lowering a-arms installed because I know I am very interested and I am sure there are a couple other guys that would like to check it out the difference.

^ What Kyle said, we get this question a lot about our springs and arms together. We love having pictures to use for reference to show people how the car will sit with the combination, as well as feedback on driveability and clearance issues to relay to others considering the same option.

The only thing I notice that is a bit different than the stock ones is at very low speeds, or turning while stopped, there is a shuttering feeling as the tire turns. Not sure why, or if its bind or possibly the angle of the tierods binding, but that's it. Perhaps BMR has heard of this and can comment.

I am running Strano springs with konis an I do get some bump steer. I actually just ordered some of the baer bumpsteer tierods to help out in this. I may actually raise the front back up 1/4 or 1/2 inch as well.

I'll get pics this weekend.

The issue you are describing is actually related to the bump steer issue. It is due to the principal of steering ackerman. In a factory front suspension setup, the spindle arm lengths and toe rod angles are calculated so that the inner tire is actually turning sharper than the outer tire, because the tires are traveling on 2 different radiuses. With the suspension lowered, now your toe rod length and angle are changed in relation to the steering arm length. So now your turning radiuses will not be in the same relation to each other and may cause the tires to chatter some.

Eric, thanks.

Does this change at all if I run the bump steer ends? Do you guys have experience with them?

What kit do you plan on running? Either way, yes they will help as they will correct the toe rod angles and bring them back closer to factory spec which will bring your ackerman radiuses back into relation to each other

Is it safe to say that if you're lowering your car, you will 100% need to buy bump steer kit? I have Bilsteins and Strano springs all around, and I'm not sure I've experienced this?

Just got these yesterday, a few days late. Can't wait to put them on this weekend.

I'll be taking the stock front lower a-arms off this weekend and getting these bad boys on. Thanks BMR

So much nicer looking then the factory A-arms!

FYI, make sure to use either a scribe or black sharpie to mark around the bolts/nuts before loosening then and removing the factory lower A-arms. This way you'll be able to get the BMR A-arms very close to the where the factory A-arms were originally tightened in place.

Good luck with that ^. I did the same and it wasn't even in the ball park.

I would reccomed a silver sharpie though. Much easier to see than black.
