Default 12 bolt umi ta issue

Hows it going guys, im helping my buddy install a 12 bolt in his car. Installs going pretty well except when it came to the torque arm mount. He has a umi adj. torque arm and the trans member with the ta mount on it. We bolted the bracket to the 12 bolt and slide the torque arm in trans member part but the arm doesnt line up with mount rear, its a good 1" off. Now is it normal to have to cut the mount on the rear so i could use the inner holes? Also we lost the instruction sheet for the trans member, whats with all the holes for the torque arm mount clamshell? Which one does what?

I think you have to cut the bracket for 9 inch or s60. 10 and 12 bolt should work fine as is. To get everything initially lined up yes it takes some persuading.

I have a UMI relo trans crossmember and the instructions say the 2nd set of holes from the bottom match the stock position. The link below has info for modifying a BMR or Spohn TA mount to fit the Strange 12 bolt (and S60) but a UMI should be similar.

Ended up having to cut the bracket down to the second set of holes, also had to grind down on the rear abit to clearance the bracket.

Hello, Yes you have to cut the outer holes off if you wish to use the inner holes. If you don't cut it you can use the outer holes with no cutting or grinding.

I hope that helps,
