Thanks, Eric. Everything went together nicely with the rest of the BMR stuff. I'll get it figured out. i just don't want vibrations from the clamshell rubbing the tailshaft.

Well, I put the new GM rubber bushing in and everything dropped right in. There wasn't much play with the trans with the pedestals. Here are pictures of everything put together. You can see how the clamshell was rubbed pretty bad.

The trans looks crooked compared to the mount, but isn't crooked in the tunnel.

From what I see in this photo you still have unresolved issues.
The whole transmission X-member is mounted crooked. If you look carefully at the nose of the TA where it come through the front of the poly bushing you can clearly see that the whole X-member is crooked, but the TA nose looks to be perfectly lineup with the transmission.

I'd start by removing the center rubber trans mount nut, then slightly jack up the rear of the trans tail shaft to get any load off the X-member, then loosed up ALL 4 mount mounts so you should then be able move to straighten out the X-member by moving the drivers side of the X-member forward towards the front of the car(use a large dead blow hammer if needed). Now if you can't get it to move forward on the driver side to straightened it out, then you've got a issue with the BMR bolt mount holes and need to compare it to the mount holes in the factory-member to make sure it looks the same.

I'll see if I can do that. The issue with the drivers side is there is one slotted hole and one non-slotted hole. So it sits where it sits. The passenger side has slots but they are right/left slots, so there is no movement forward or back. If there were slots there, then yes, I could move it however.

IMO, there should still be enough adjustment/play in the combined 4 mount holes to get you trans X-member straightened out; like it should be.

BMR... is it supposed to be crooked like that?

If the trans were actually at a 90 degree angle to the mount, then i don't think the clamshell for the TA would be rubbing... the trans would be off it. The problem is, that would mean the k-member is shifted to the passenger side pretty good.

I had the same issue with my BMR crossmember. I used a bur on a die grinder to oblong the holes on the driver side to make the x member fit correctly. I know it wasn't just my car too, cause the guy I sold it to said the slots I made fit his Camaro perfectly.

Here's how the (unaltered)bolt holes looked on my old UMI X-member for reference.

Just wanted to update here, I spoke with the OP this morning and got everything straightened out. Getting him a new cross-member out and getting this one back to try to see what is going on. Something is definitely off on the mounting of that part. I'm just curious to see what happened to cause it

Just checking in to see if you got this figured out. New part went out late last week.

Well to update: I finally had time yesterday to go out and mess with the cross member (been busy with doing the floors in my house that flooded April 30 - ugh).

The good news is the new one actually fits the body without having the bolts go in crooked into the body. The bad news is the trans still rubs (but not nearly as bad) on the clamshell. I can easily pry the transmission over enough (but then it doesn't align with the mount on the xmember).

I'm awaiting some new 90 degree AN fittings for my trans cooler, so once I get those tomorrow, I can get that installed and the trans back in the tunnel. Then I'll disconnect the pedestals and see if I can't get the entire trans to sit slightly to the passenger side and hopefully that'll give me the 1/8" or so of clearance I need for it to not rub.

Eric - I sent back the old part today. I didn't remove it until this week and wanted to compare to the new one. They look very close, so I don't see any blatant issues. I think the part is just engineered to be very close between the TA and the Trans and something is amiss with my car that's causing them to rub. If the trans mount were located 1/8" to the passenger side, it would fit no problem...

Good to hear. With it being as close as it sounds now, you may be able to get it settled into place by loosening the pedestals and prying on the trans and getting it to shift over a little then re-tightening them. I will have my returns department looking for the other one back so we can look at it
