Default Shocks missing anything for install?

A friend gave me a set of shocks he had sitting in the garage for some time. He said nothing was wrong with them when he took them off, he just went with a different type.

Before I take mine off I just need to know are they missing any parts at all. Each shock has one bushing on the top, 1 curve washer and one has one small washer.

I did replace the bottom bushings.

And it had this piece in the box. Not sure if I need it, I only have one.

Am I missing anything to install these on my 01 Camaro?

Thanks.

Are they coilovers?

Also: Shocks = rear
Struts = front

Where are the springs?

You can re-use your front top hats but I just bought new ones for mine.

I believe the black rubber seat is for the spring but I could be wrong.. Vikings were a little different.

Here's a pic of one of the springs that go with it.

Okay so I am able to use the factory top hat off my factory shocks?

So I just need to find out if the rubber seat goes to the shock.

Thanks!

Yup! Just compress the stock spring and unscrew the little top hat screw from them (make sure the spring stays compressed. Then youll need to make sure your height adjuster on the coilover is all the way to the bottom so the spring fits with the top hat. Looks like you have a new screw on the coilover for the top hat (my old one was rusted as hell).

Now that I see that spring that's exactly what the rubber seat is for.. should sit right on top of the height adjuster

Good luck getting the factory top mount off... Never have had any success doing that. I've always run into the mount being rusted/seized to the shock shaft and never has come apart for me. Some have gotten lucky though.

Easier just to buy new ones and avoid the hassle/cursing

OP, bought new hats from autozone.

Oh definitely. Anymore I just go ahead and do that. Far less aggravation lol.

Autozone carries Moog I believe. The next time I did shocks (on my 99) I ordered them from Rock Auto as they were cheaper from there, along with new isolators and such. Did the assembly in my living room, so the amount of time the car was on jackstands was minimal. Just unbolted and bolted in.

Sure wish I had had my 1/2" impact at that time. I thought running a spring compressor on the factory springs with just a ratchet was tiring enough, but doing Strano springs by hand, well, let's just say my arms were total rubber by the time I was done

Here are some part numbers to help:

Moog K6516 and K6517 are the upper mounts. $45-ish from Rock Auto.
Moog K6573 is the isolator. About $5 each from Rock Auto.

Yes thanks alot for the part numbers! That will save alot of time. And i'm glad yall mentioned the impact, I was only going to use a ratchet!

And are the isolators the same has the rubber seat I posted a picture of?

It looks like the rubber seat sits on the height adjuster and then the spring sits in that.. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Not that it matters that much but that is incorrect for 4th gens.
They have coilover shocks in the front. Cars with struts don't have an upper A-arm, cars with coilover shocks do.
Strut on the left, coilover shock on the right, which one looks like the 4th gen setup?

Different part. The Moog ones I mentioned go inside of the top of the upper mount. Spreads the load from the shock/spring so it doesn't pull through the mount. The rubber part you showed comes from the makers of those coilovers only. Different part.
