Default UMI/Strano coil-over kit is about ready to roll. Read more here.

4th Gen F-body competition coilover package is built to perform.

When UMI came to me with this project, I was very up front about what I'd put my name on, and that I wouldn't settle for something I didn't want or like. And they were okay with that. It took many revisions. We found a number of things we needed to change from valving to the basic shock, to the mounting hardware. It's been a long time coming, but finally we are there.

Valving was developed me personally, and it took 4 or 5 revisions to arrive at something I found acceptable, including a change in the basic damper.

Afco built monotube dampers provide race winning performance in auto-x and road race while still providing an awesome street ride. The package includes rebound adjustable dampers with a properly tuned fixed compression valve code. The 40-position digressive rebound curve is designed for competition body and weight transfer control. Spring rates are 600 lb/in front and 200 lb/in rear Hypercoil Springs.

Ride height adjustment range is stock to 2-1/2” lowering. **Every part of this competition proven package is 100% Made In USA.**

The complete system includes: 4 coilover shocks, 4 springs of 600/200 (note rears are relocated that why the higher spring rate than our factory location springs), fabricated bolt in mounting brackets and hardware, thrust bearings for each shock and a spanner wrench for height adjustments.

UMI/Strano specific competition valving.
Road race, auto-x and street corner carver tested. I've pounded these myself, on the roads I use to test new setups and setup changes on a daily basis. Early versions I just didn't like. These I do.

Bolt in double shear brackets on all four corners – competition proven.
Front upper fabricated shock mount removes rust-prone GM rubber shock mount.
Front shocks assembled with progressive rate bump stops.
Double bearing shocks for crisp response, zero deflection and high reliability.
Afco aluminum body shocks built in Indiana USA.
Rebound adjustable (digressive) monotube with Strano tuned valving.
125 psi monotube provides quick reaction and fade-free performance.
Competition ready yet still street/corner carver worthy.
600 lb/in front and 200 lb/in rear Hypercoils standard. Built in Indiana USA.

***Alternate spring rates are available upon request***
***Rear bumpstops are required, if you don't have any please let us know when ordering***

Will there be a way to mount the fronts to the stock T-bar style mount? I run SCCA GT2 and while the shocks are free the upper and lower A-arms must be the stock OEM piece.

Isn't GT2 an all-out, tube frame chassis class, like GT1, or is it production chassis based, like/replacing the older production classes??

Sam;

Would you be willing to sell just the front setup, or would you not do that due to possible bad handling traits with someone's unknown rear set up (mine is Koni single adjustable Sports with your older, Vogtland made springs)?

Just how much spring can these front dampers handle with your 'standard' valving?

About how long until the double adjustable versions are out, and will they have an even higher spring rate range?

Production based. Stock intake, stock throttle body, stock heads, stock a arms, etc. Some modifications are allowed, but not a whole hell of a lot.

Aww man, I just bought my Viking setup a year ago too, which I am certainly happy with. But... I think I might have to sell those, and pick up a set of these UMI/Strano ones soon! Both of my favourite companies collaborating!? No way :O :O :O

I could probably make an adapter myself that converts the shear mount to the T-bar.

Ok, went digging myself. Maybe one of the UMI guys or Sam can chime in on this.

Looks like there are three options (maybe more?) for what is called the Tie Bar Kit which converts the bearing end to a tie bar setup like OEM fit. I don't have my car in the garage right now so I can't go out and measure to see which one is the exact fitment.

This is in AFCO's 2016 catalog on page 207: PDF Download

As seen here:

For those not sure what's being discussed, this is in regard to making the front coilovers fit lower A-arms accepting OEM style mounts including the UMI Boxed lowers:

As compared to the UMI double shear boxed lowers they had on display at PRI (source, LSXTV):

For those asking, the part #'s currently listed on our site will include the correct lower front t-bar for factory a-arms and UMI a-arms. The"T" in the part #'s represents a t-bar to us.

Pictures will be updated once our first batch of custom built shocks arrives from Afco.

Thanks for looking!

The lower mount will actually be a T-bar. That's an older picture for the set that UMI is using on their car with a double shear clevis.

Well so much for my Kooks True Duals fund

How much of an improvement would this be over a conventional Strano spring/Koni 4/4 setup?

Already took care of that on mine, it's gonna eat into my standalone ECU fund though. Gotta dump this stock pcm, it's really limited and hptuners left it a long time ago

Good damping is good damping and a lot of that is modeled after what you have. Here's what you'd gain:

-Ride height adjustment

-Ability to play with alternate spring rates should you want

-Ability to corner weight the car should you want

-You lose the rubber mounting on front and rear shocks, top and bottom which makes the shocks act quicker, on top of the fact these are mono-tube and have a little more reaction speed to start with.

-A bit less weight since the shocks here are aluminum and the springs are smaller.

Does one gain any ultimate damping rate (both rebound and compression) over the highest settings on Koni Sport double adjustables?

Are these (standard) valved only for up to the supplied 600 in. lb. front springs, or can they handle slightly more spring rate than that??
