Strano's.. Heater Hose? Picked up a set of Sam's springs.. Getting them installed next week. Any advantage, preference of the Heater Hose Mod vs the rear shock rubber bushings? what do you guys recommend? pics? |
If you do the rear springs and the heater hose your car may have rake towards the rear. I'd leave the isolator in and drive it and let everything settle and see how you like it. if the rear is still too high it's super easy to pop out the rear spring with just a jack and jack stand, pop the shock off you'll be able to pop it off and swap to the heater hose or cobra rear isolator. |
Great idea..... think I may just do that. Thank you.

I have stranos on on koni oranges up front and yellows in the rear, stock isolator in the rear and car sits just right for me, I've got a 28" tire in the rear too. |
You may have to play with it a bit depending on what you prefer from a looks perspective. I put Stranos on my car back when they first came out. Great ride and handling but I never really liked the look, wasn't low enough for me and had too much forward rake. My car is lighter than most just like yours as it has no power options so that doesn't help matters. I ended up with adjustable front coilovers with Strano rear springs with the hose mod to get my desired look. Super old pics so not the greatest as these were from before the days of smartphones and all but for reference: 1. Strano springs all around with stock rear isolators: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...670feda18d.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...0f4255dc8c.jpg 2. See how it looks after it settles and take it from there. |
Everyone needs to remember, when you sit your butt in the car, the rear is going to go down a bit. Have a friend/wife/S.O./neighbor help and measure your wheel arch when you are not in the car, vs when you are. I think I tried measuring and on stock springs I easily dropped 1/2 inch when I sat down, maybe more, I don't remember. So a tiny amount of rake is OK, since when you sit, then the car is (more) level. |

Bam!! $ |
03 cobra rear isolators fit as well. They are shorter than the fbodys, i have them on my car because the 9" raises the ass end up and did not like the heater hose method. Prothane makes them, got mine on amazon. |
I did the heater hose mod on my Strano's, the rear sat too high with my isolators |

I'm wondering if the LT1's sit a little differently. I owned a 99 TA with Strano's and had no issues in the rear. |

Mine currently sits like a Monster truck.... So much so I won't even drive it! That will all change on Friday. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...2a3964883d.jpg
