Default F-Body Rack & Pinoin...

My car is being repared after an accident. The chassis shop has put in 2 remanufactured Rack and Pinions and it still does not steer right. So I am going to see if State Farm will agree to buy a new R & P, but the F-body part is rare I understand. If the chassis is straight, is there any other Rack & Pinion that is compatible with the F-body? Vette R & P? Trucks??
I am begining to wonder if the K-member is not bent or something.....

The owner of the chassis shop says it just didn't steer.

I just talked to him on the phone. He says the K-member, A-arms, Tie Rods, ball joints, etc. are all still in great shape.
He said the first Rack and Pinion had a tight spot at 9:00 in both directions, saw the steering shaft bent, replaced shaft and joints, tight spot still there. Replaced Rack and Pinion, redid alignment and test drove the car. Tight spot barely noticable; but when he went to trun back into the shop he lost all power assist when turning right . Turning left still had power assist . New R & P ordered from GM .

How is the f-body part rare? State Farm just doesn't want to pay for a GM / new one?

Correct. They prefer to use remanufactured parts. It is hard to find one, and the two they tried were faulty . The body shop manager convinced State Farm that a new part was needed since it was the steering system....ya know...kind of important to vehicel saftey .
