Default How to adj. double adj. pan & lca's correctly?

How to adj. double adj. pan & lca's correctly w/ sphirl ends? I spent an hour & a half putting them on, & it's too damn cold outside to figure out if I'm adj. them right. Is there a certain way to adj. the panhard & lca's just right. Or is it more like as long as it fits tight it's good? Probably a stupid question to some of ya'll, but any advice would help. Thanks
