Default OEM vs Durostop brake pads

Went to my dealership today, and they wanted $149.01 for front and $82.93 for rear pads. They pulled my VIN and according to the dealership these are replacements.

Anyone know what the difference is between the (2) pads? I can get the Durostops for 1/2 the price.

Oh, that's with my 10% discount at the dealership.
Ridiculous IMO

Get the brake pad number from the dealership, go to the gmsdc site over here >>>>>>>>> and you should be able to get the brake pads at a far better price.

Yes, I have the numbers they cross-referenced.
Thanks, I'll do some investigating!
FYI - Part # RCH 18026298 $149.01
Part #RCH 88899570 $82.72

OK, 121.70 + $67.73 = $189.43 vs $231.73

Still seems a little high, and I have heard that the Durostops are "no squeek" but not sure about the dusting issues. Just thought someone may know the diff between the (2).

Durostops (fr/rr) = $138.00 which is still almost $100 cheaper.
Quite a bit of difference, so just wondering ???

From my understanding Durastop are Morse? renamed. They are generic pads really. If you want some GOOD brakes, that dust a bit, go to Murrays and buy Bosch Ceremic. They are Lifetime replacement! Why pay 140 bucks every time to replace your pads when u can pay 1 time =).

Their like 70 bucks for the fronts btw

OKE DOKE....we'll do some more research, but definitely want non-squeek, minimal dusting pads. These OEM's provided very little dust, longevity, and NO squeeks. Don't mind paying a LITTLE more, but $100 is a stretch IMO.

I thought ceramic caused squeeking? Again, gotta do some more reading.
I guess we can call it F-body inflation

GM uses Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads that you can pick up at any AutoZone for under 50 bucks.

Skip the Durastops. They dust terribly and squeak like hell. Stick with the OEM pads for no dusting and quietness.

OK, on (3) different forums, we have numerous responses, of which many conflict.

Based on the inconsistent opinions I received (no offense to anyone), I have located OEM pads 1/3 off the price I originally indicated, so I am now within my $150 targeted spending range. $90 fronts/ $56 rears.

Thanks again fellow F-body enthusiasts and LS1 mods.

.....and who says it doesn't pay to ask!

I know the OEM replacement pads are no queak low dust. I have ZERO experience with the "Durastop" GM pads - but if they are so much cheaper, there has got to be SOMETHING that sucks about them. Stick with the OEM replacements, or get Raybestos Quiet Stops, and you will be happy.

I put Ceramic Durastops on the front of my 'Hawk, and so far, love them. Just as much brake power as the original pads, less visible dust, and no squeaking. Durastops ARE lifetime guaranteed as well. I put the normal Durastops on customers' cars all the time. There was a run of them about 2 years ago that had TERRIBLE dust and squeaking (mostly on Devilles and Sevilles), but they came out with an updated pad and new sliders, and we haven't had any problems with them yet.

I used the Wagner ones from Oreilly's and I like them. I think they were around $50 and have a lifetime warrenty. The best part is they don't dust at all. I go a long period of time with out washing my truck and they get very little dust, the ones I had from autozone would make my wheels black after 3 days.
