Default Caliper rebuild kit, how to?

I am going to powdercoat my calipers soon, changing colors and tired of the paint chips. Going to take they apart to powdercoat...

Anyways, I am thinking that I want to rebuild the calipers while they are off the car. Should I have this done somewhere, or is it a pretty simple task.

One of the reason I want to rebuild is with the calipers off the car, I cant wiggle one of the fronts in and out but I can with the other three

Thanks

installuniversity.com has pictures and details, seems like you can rebuild them yourself with tools needed which aren't nothing special. I plan on rebuilding my calipers and then selling the aftermarket ones I have on now, which are real heavy compared to my stock calipers. Just take you time.

Thanks guys, do you know if that kit on the website works for the rear as well? Maybe just one kit for the rear since its single piston? Also they didnt mention re-attaching the other half of the caliper, any torque specs on those bolts or just tight as hell?

Check out Mitch's excellent writeup at Installuniversity - it'll tell you exactly what's involved in the rebuild process. IMO - there's no way you should pay someone to do this. Figure about 1 hour per caliper at most.

I rebuilt 2 C5 calipers in 15 minutes ... they were off the car, of course ...

I understand that you are wanting to rebuild the calipers due to disassembly for PC ...

For the rest of you who are rebuilding because of the seals and boots being torn or leaking, I bought reman calipers from O-reilly's a couple weeks ago for $34 each and they come with new hardware.

The 98+ F-Body rebuild kits are $10-12 each and it requires 2 per caliper. The C5 rebuild kits are $12-14 and only 1 is needed per caliper.

Damn, that's cheap. I've never even priced remans.
