I don't know how some of you do it ...
I took the shocks and rear sway bar (21mm) off of my 98 to use on my CMC car. I replaced them with low mileage stock Decarbons (all I had at the time) and a 19mm sway bar.
It feels like the rear is resting on a waterbed with Dirk Diggler at work.
I don't know how some of you can drive a car with shocks this bad ... maybe you've just never driven a decent handling car.
If you have stock shocks, you have no idea what you are missing ...

That's right, if you haven't put on konis, you have no idea what you're missing.
How many miles? Fwiw I heard new decarbons are fine.

Mosty because it still goes fast with the stock shocks, and slides in a controlled, predictable manner.
But I agree - the new shocks were the 2nd best mod I did to the car. It drives a lot more BMW like now, an amazing difference from the tired DeCarbons. What was the best mod? the stereo :-)

Decarbons are not valved very well for our cars from the factory. They just didn't get it "right".
I bottomed out my Koni's and smashed the compression valve in the shock body. Not a Koni defect. I killed them.

Damn you guys, I'm debating on whether Koni's are worth the money right now (price increase 4/1) and then you go and post about how awesome they are and how stock shocks suck, etc.....Now I HAVE to buy them

Well I was going to second what he said, but I see you're looking to be led astray. So FWIW, the stock shocks SUCK. NEVER EVER get stocks when you could get the good stuff instead. That would be just CRAZY!!
GL on your suspension decisisons.

Cool, just wondered. I know my eibach/bilstein combo plants extremely well, but it isn't a system that is very flexible w/alterations IMO.
If you go w/the Koni set-up, please provide us some feedback. I have never heard anything bad about Koni's, but they are pricey.
