SLP SFC's Are the SLP SFC's a good buy, or should I get the BMR's? Right now I'm leaning toward the SLP's, cause to me the diamond shape seems more sturdy to me. |
SLPs? Sturdy? Why yes, yes they are :jest: They weigh a ton though...just be forewarned. |
Worth it over BMR? Either way should help a lot. |
Don't know about the Bmr but the SLP bolt on's are really good they will tighten your ride up and help ya run flatter around the curves, I've had mine on for 3 years and I love em' never had a bolt come loose either just make sure you torque the bolt good and put some loc-tite on them too. |
I have the bolt on ones on my '94 Formula. I plan to remove and put onto my '02 Hawk. They ARE heavy!! Maybe 20 ponds each, but they are tough. Also put some graphite grease on the bolt that goes through the lower control arm. Mine squeaked until I did that. All in all- worth the money. |
was probably going to get the weld in ones |

I dunno...I think if I had to do it over again, I would have done something a bit smaller like the BMRs. The SLPs hang pretty low, and are very bulky, but then again, they work very well to jack your car up. You can do it NASCAR style...put the jack in the middle, and both wheels come up. Actually, when I jack it up, it jacks up three corners from one side...it really does stiffen everything up. |
I have the weld in SLP's and really like them..car is much better handling and you can jack it up very EZ now :) |
like my slp's. Would think about bolt on's if not getting them done at a shop that does them regularly. I have turned a wrench or two, nothing to fancy. I rebolted the silly things up 3 times to get it just right. IF they were welded???? I think if incorrectly installed you can create a lot of problems. As with many car projects the first time takes alot longer. I think I could do them again in Half the time.....just two tries. |
Are there any ground clearance problems with the SLP bolt-ons with a car lowered 1"? |
No clearance issues with mine, they are one of my favorite mods |
I'm not to concerned with the ground clearance, already got SLP LT's. Pretty sure the SFC's will not hang lower than my headers and cats already do. I've decided to get the Bolt-ons and weld them later, like the idea of not painting. |
i've got the bolt in ones. love them, they are just a ton. definitly not helping my race weight. i took out the jack and tire and called it about even (even though im still probably 10 lbs heavier) |

Before welding in those SLP bolt-on's SFC's first drive it for a few months, if installed correctly I think you'll find there's no need to weld them into place. JMO Al |
Like Al say's there's no need to weld in the bolt on's. |
I got the weld ins, had them bolted, then welded. But I'm paranoid about chassis flex and fatique, but hate hte idea of a cage in my car. They aren't that heavy. Well, not to me at least. But I'm not trying to shave every pound (yet) either. And the weight is in a good place, the very bottom of the car, and in the middle, behind the engine. It should help lower and shift backwards the CG. By microscopic amounts, but still...... :D |
I have had mine for 4 years bolt in, nice but heavy! |
Does anyone have the BMR sfc's? Do they actually hold up as well as the SLP? What about the Spohn sfc's? |
