How do you know if rotors need to be replaced?

Default How do you know if rotors need to be replaced?

I have about 37k on my TA and i think i need to change the pads. How do you know if the rotors need to be replaced?

You have to measure the thickness of the rotor facings (not the "lip" on the edge, but the actual surface the pads ride on). If they are too thin, you must replace them. I believe the minimum spec is 31mm (off the top of my head, it usually marked on the inside of the rotor. Verify that number, but 31mm sticks with me).

NAPA rotors for a C5 are 25 ea just chuck'em if they are near that price for your car.
