eibachs suck I need some help I hsd my pro kit on my 98 SS and it just rides to rough and it seems like the rear sags, do you guys reccomend any other type of springs  |
Ive been reading a lot about springs and so far I'm thinking that the DMS springs are the best overall and Hotchkiss would be my second choice. Not claiming to be an expert, just letting you know what I'm going to buy for my car. |
I do not like any of my Eibach springs . . . I've heard DMS and Hotchkis are nice units . . . |
Hotchkiss are well harder than stock especially if you give them the shock damping rate they need. I found the Hotchkiss + Bilstein combo too harsh, currently Hotchkiss + Gabriel air shocks, may go all the way back to stock springs (maybe minus the donut for profile) but keep the Gabriels. I have felt either bumpstop or coil bind a couple of times out back. Progressive springs work by progressive coil bind and appear to like less travel. I like the Hotchkiss + SLP Bilsteins up front. Though I don't have enough front rigidity with the aftermarket K-member to let the shocks really be in control. |
I had Bilstein HDs and the Prokit on my 99. I hated the ride. Not to mention the rear sagged and I couldn't stand it. I put the Hotchkis springs on my 02 and love them so far. Im running my stock shocks with them and am actually very pleased with the ride so far. Thats weird Jimmyblue says its soo harsh, they seem to ride great to me. I have ridden and driven much harsher set-ups, Hotchkis are a great compromise IMO. I would NEVER go back to stock springs. NEVER!!!! :D |
I did the same thing. I put the Prokits on my last 99, it sucked. Felt like a pogo stick. Of course, not replacing the shocks/struts doesn't help at all. I like my Hypercoils which I got from them. I believe www.hypercoils.com LG sells them under their name I believe. I still have the stock deCarbons, just don't have the $600 or more for the correctly valved Bilsteins. Strano seems to be the "expert" on correct suspension set up depending on your goals. |
you could try hotchkiss or QA1 |
I have some hypercoil rear springs I'll sell you to get your rear up to the right height if your interested. |
After researching up and down and planning my suspension setup, I'm going with DMS springs also. Just an fyi i guess.. |
I got G2 springs and HD bilsteins and I thought the back was kinda harsh and it sat lower in the back, So I cut one full coil off the stock springs and I now like the ride and stance. If you still have your stock springs, just cut one full coil off and see how you like it. It's only a 20 minute job swapping rear springs. |

You can try a spacer like this: http://gmocart2.gmotion.com/store/gr...07/18-8001.jpg They are cheap and easy to try out. |
Hotchkis :D |
I have Hotchkis with stock shocks and I really like it. It lowered the car about 1" all around, no sag, and rides great. Now, I'm about to put on Bilstien HD's, so we'll see how much it changes my car. |
I have the hypercoils with the SLP Bilsteins and I love that setup. I love the hypercoils! |
