It is a good kit. The LG kit is a better buy. They brackets are $250 and DO NOT require cutting the spindles. They directly bolt on and you can keep your stock calipers. I did the LG kit and love it. For under $700 you could get the brackets, whatever rotors you want, C5 calipers and whatever pads you want.

The problem with the G2 kit is it will only work with the LS1 spindle and not the LT1 spindle.

The C5 calipers retail for $189ea at a local GM dealer (at least in my area) they can be picked up much cheaper online but it seems most online GM dealers are making it up in shipping.

Aren't the C5 calipers better, though?

Yes it only works with the LS1 spindle, but he has an LS1. If you have a LT1 the UMI kit is the way to go. If you have an LS1 the LG kit is the way to go.

Nick: C5 calipers are pressure cast and had the ribs in back to prevent spreading. If dont plan on going road raceing I would stick with the stock fbody ones. You will never know the difference. I got front and rear vette calipers for $125 off a 03 with 5K miles. It cost me $30 to rebuild them.

A very detailed discussion by the UMI maker and Bob Bishop, who made a similar bracket, is here:

But it's nice to know that I will have the option to road race later on. I think I will get this kit as soon as I graduate college at the end of May.

Read about it, its very interesting. It has convinced me to go with Bishops brackets if they are ever made again.

I don't think anybody can put down the UMI brackets. Check the thread I posted earlier, it has a lot of details.

It basically comes down to UMI being the only bracket of it's type currently available. If Bob was still making his, it would be a different story as I think they have the edge.

Or you can go the LG route if you have an LS1, or do an LS1 spindle swap if you have an LT1 car.

Pics of them are hard to find, aren't they? I happen to have a secret stash.
