Default Can you resurface a pad?

Last week one of my front caliper bracket bolts flew out at about 70mph, allowing the caliper to tilt back which made 2 rough spots on the pads and 2 small grooves in the rotor. Now there's a rubbing noise coming from that wheel while I'm driving, kind of like the pads are touching the rotor at all times. I took everything back apart and compressed the calipers and made sure the rotor was on correctly, and torqued the lugs. The problem is still there.

Well the pads are a month old so I really don't want to buy new ones, so can I resurface the pad while I resurface the rotor? I'm guessing this is what's making the rubbing noise since I double checked everything else.

Default

You can scuff up the pads with some sandpaper (something in the 120-grit range should work fine) - no harm in that.
