Vibration in steering wheel between 50-65 mph
Two weekends ago I put my new Boyd Coddingtons on with Nitto 555 extremes. Just in the last four days or so I have noticed a vibration, but only when I reach about 50 mph. Once I get over 65, no more vibration. I know its not rotors, or it would vibrate constantly or when I brake, but this is just normal driving. Can anyone shed some light?

Take the car to a good wheel shop and have them check the balance and put the wheels/tires on a road force machine. Most likely, one or more wheels or tires is out of round or the heavy spot of a wheel is lined up with a heavy spot of a tire. Its also possible that one of the wheels is slightly bent, although this is less likely given the symptoms. There could also be a defect in the tire that only appears with the weight of the vehicle. The machine may be able to balance it right, but you'll notice an odd vibration at speed with the weight of the car on them. That is why you need to have it checked on road force machine instead of just a simple balance.

The road force matching process VIP mentioned can be really useful. Check out this link for how to locate a Hunter 9700 machine in your area: http://www.gsp9700.com/

i feel a vibration ~70 mph in 6th gear, and only 6th gear. after i pass 1600 rpms it smooths out again. 70 in 5th doesnt get the vibration, nor does 4th. im going to remove the preload plate and possibly grind down the poly trans mount i have this weekend, so ill see if that fixes it.

I had the same problem with my new tire and wheel combo. Balanced twice with no change but I don't think this type of balancer was used. I took a few pounds of air out and that helped a little, but I'm looking forward to trying this balancer. I have a shop close to my home that has it.
