Default Who has actually broken their tailshaft?

They tell me tailshaft mounted torque arms are good til you start going faster than 11's (though i think they should go by 60'ft times instead)

When was the last time someone broke a trans tailshaft?

I have a vidoe on my comp of a friend going 7.0 in the 1/8th mile on his stock arm. Never heard of anyone damaging the tailshaft thought, although it is possible.

I've heard that so many times from so many different sources for so long that I just assumed it was true. But a few times someone posted here asking for anyone who had ever seen or experienced a broken tailshaft (preferably someone with pics) to post, but to my knowledge no one responded saying they did.

You talking about the tailshaft or the tailshaft housing? I've known lots of housings to break. Mainly from driveshaft/ujoint issues though. But I have heard of several torque arm related failures.

Wouldnt a tunnel Mount TA or trans mount TA fix that. Or did that effect the trans operation itself?? As in the bolts that hold the trans together are toast or does that just mount the clam shell to te trans?

We offer a torque arm relocation crossmember so you can still retain your full length torque arm. We have several cars running deep into the nines running our crossmember and torque arm. If you have any questions please give us a call.

I've heard of the mount itself breaking before. From the pics BMR Tech just posted I guess it happens.

My tuner has a TA in the 9's on a stock torque arm in the stock mounting location. All while still doing huge wheel stands.

That looks like a nice piece. I thought you had to have a driveshaft loop to run that fast. You do in Indy, anyhow.

The drive shaft loop mounts to the floor pan in a different location. This cross member replaces the factory transmission cross member already in the car.

It definitely can happen. Ive seen cars with 500 rwhp not have any problem and a stock car winds up breaking one.

Excellent. My current driveshaft loop mounts where your crossmember is located, which is why I asked.

I am in need of tailshaft housing number 2 and was wondering if this relocation bracket would prevent me from going through another tailshaft? Is that the only bracket i would need to make everything fit properly? What are your recomendations?

Yes you will not break anymore tailshafts. Our t/a relocation bracket takes the place of your transmission crossmember and relocates your torque arm. We have a relocation bracket for any transmission car combination. Give me a call if you have any questions.

That's my car in the above post with the broken tailshaft. I daresay that I'd break that one, too.

First, I broke the top bolt of the clamshell. Then, I broke a torque arm. Finally, the tailshaft broke. Just scrapped it all and went with a torque arm that's not mounted on the transmission.

Mind you, this was all during braking with my car, not accelleration.

Oh, BTW - the TA that I cracked wasn't a BMR piece. The BMR arm that I had was the one that broke the transmission. Probably one of the strongest TAs out there.

Of course, I always like it when aftermarket parts are strong enough to break factory ones. It ends up costing money, but I know that I'm going faster when it happens!
