Wheel stud's on an LS1 - please help.
 

I was changing my wheels and I broke 1 of the drivers side front wheel studs. I was able to knock it lose, and put another one in there.

My question is:

Do you have to drop the break assembly to properly put the stud back in?

Also, if I bought snowflake wheels that came off a 2000-2002 Z28, will they fit with no rubbing on a 1999 z28?

Please help, this has been a real pain in the butt. Any help is greatly appreciated.

For the front you dont have to drop anything... just take the wheel off...

Well, I couldn't get enough leverage/space to knock the other stud back in. I could get it pretty close, but it wasn't all the way in. You would have to drop the brake assembly off of it, right?

yes you will need to take the rotor off and you should have enough room to place it back in, then use your lug nut to draw the stud back in.

You don't hammer them back in. You use a lugnut to pull it through. As you tighten the lugnut, it'll pull the stud through the mounting plate on the hub.

yes, they will fit fine

I did NOT have to remove my caliper to replace a front wheel stud.

Just push the stud in as far as you can, perhaps whack it from the rear a few times with a rubber mallet (or lightly with a hammer). When there is enough thread showing, pull it through with the lug nut without the rim on there.

Then you should be good to go.
