Bilstein HD'S

Been searching, looking at schock ads...

I have stuck springs, Bilstein HD's Strano 35mm front, 22mm rear.

LCA's... car handles like a go kart, front schocks fine , but the rears hit really hard. Fine on highway, but rough road... kidney buster.

Does'nt Bilstein carry a non HD.

Or do I have to go to something like a Koni for the rear?

They hit like there's no schock...hard

Really pissing me off... thought HD's wrere the way to go.

Any thoughts really appreciated...

Thanks

So if it feels like no schock... defective schock?

Aslo getting a hitting noise on passenger side over bumps

i have bilstein hd on sportline springs front & back & the back ones hit hard on any bump!!!!!!!!!!!i dont no because there is less travel to hit the bump stops in the back???i think i am gonna trim the bump stops & see what happens?

I have a similar noise to with my HD, but you can get a revalved SLP Bilstein shocks for the car that are a touch softer. I wouldn't mix shocks though.

SLP only revalves the fronts. The rears are the standard HD.

i just put a set on front and rear and they seem good. they are better than the decarbons that where on the front and it had kyb gas adjust's on the rear and the car feels a lot better. it still rides stiff in the rear but its better than it was

Something else going on....... Other parts interfering like your LCA's which have some kind of poly bushing or rod-end, excessive rear tire pressure is a common one.

You can't blame the shocks until you know it's the shocks. And it's not the shocks, I'm sure of that.

And SLP's rears are exactly the same as the HD rears, not touched in any way.

HD's are not ment to be used with lowering spring just stock height.
if you have aftermarket springs you need to get bilsteins that are factory replacements for the rear of third gen camaro's(no BS) or call Sam Strano.
i found this out the hard way because i had HD's on the rear or my lowered SS and the rear hit HARD over bumps too; like something was broken, but i did a bunch of checking around and this ^ is what i found. good luck.

Which HD's do you have ?
If they are 4th gen, the you need 3rd gen. Hd's or revalves.
This is just my opinion, Sam could tell you much more, call him he is VERY knowledgeable about suspension.
I had the 4th gen HD's on my car (before i talked to Sam about what he recommended) and my car seemed to hit bumps rock hard as well.
Well I have some Koni SA's back there now, and the ride is more controlled, less bouncy, yet smoother !
I think what was happening was the HD's were not damping at a fast enough rate on the bump, and letting the rear axle to contact the bump-stops a lot.
Look on your rear axle where the rubber bump stops will contact it. I bet there is a nice clean spot there because it's been bottoming and hitting those constantly.
