Default What are the advantages of having adjustable LCAs ?

What purpose does the adjustment serve other than keeping both sides exactly equal?

I dont know of ALL of the advantages, but you can change location of the wheel in the wheelwell from front to back. I guess if for some reason your alignment was off (thrust angle?) it could be corrected with them.

other than that, adjustables I dont think are that important. I had a good discussion in another forum, I couldnt find the discussion for some reason, but you may find some answers in this one http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread...threadid=26593

my G2 lca's are adjustable on the end with the heim joint, I think the main reason for that is so you can remove the heim joint and replace it when/if it wears out.

hope this helps,

I think you hit the nail on the head with being able to keep both sides equal. GM cars are notorious for having the rearend come slightly cockeyed. The adjustable LCA's allows you to correct this mistake GM makes. Main reason why I bought them.

Some people claim you can adjust pinion angle with it. Which is the exact discussion that BigShoe was referring to.

I don't see how you could adjust the pinion angle if the torque arm is fixed with no pivot????

well, the torque arm is fixed to the differential, but slides in and out of the bushing on the front mount (trans).

so, by moving the rear end forward or back, you can very very slightly change your pinion ange i guess.

but thats a horrible way to do it.

In either that discussion or another, i also brought up what would happen if you used the adjustable lca to "push" or "pull" the rear end (to try and load it), again, since the torque arm and driveshaft slide in and out of the trans, it really wouldnt be doing anything.

the main reason is to equal the length, and change the rod ends, I dont know about the small things.
