brackets don't fit

Ok, WTF. I bought a set of LG LCA relocation brackets for my 99 Camaro SS. Bought them off a guy who'd never used them. They are the weld on type. I tried to put them on and they don't fucking fit. I used a mini sledge on the damn things and I still couldn't get them quite on. Is it because I have a Moser 12 bolt or what?! So I call up LG and they tell me that it goes on the BODY side, yet the instuctions he faxed me say the opposite.

Whats the deal??????

i can't believe that someone told you that at LGMotorsports.... they have to go on the axle, that's for sure... otherwise, they'll just add to the problem

if they don't fit your rear end, then they just don't fit.... try another brand

Well, I have a stock rear end, but I had someone install mine, and the idiot ACTUALLY WELDED THEM ON THE BODY SIDE!

I was pissed, well he fixed it, but I still got charged over 360 dollars, like it actually took that long to do it (5 hours he said).

anyway, here is a picture of mine, you can see where he screwed up, and he repainted it if you look closely.

I still to this day cant believe that happened

anyway, I didnt know that the lca mount would be different on the moser rear, but mine needed to be tapped on.

BTW, i do have a set of brand new BMR weld in brackets i am willing to part with, i was about to put them up for sale, they are not as nice as the G2's, but they may fit better for you. the reason i didnt install them is because you need to pile up washers on the end of your lca to mount it to the bracket- to me that is a half assed solution, G2 actually welds in a spacer thats much more proffesional, and gives me more piece of mind.

It more than likely has to do with the fact you have a 12-bolt. I know the bolt-on ones don't work with the 12-bolt, and LG's weld-on version may not either. Why don't you give Lou a call? I'm sure he'll answer the question for you.

Can you explain to me the welded in spacer that is supposed to be on the LG relocation brackets? Mine does not have any and I havent installed them yet. Thanks

Re: brackets don't fit

Ireland, the "spacer" is just what i called it, its not like a round washer or anything.

it is another piece of metal that is at the bottom of the bracket where the lca would mount to, but not where the bracket makes contact with the stock lca mount. Think of it as a "step" on the inside of the bracket.

the reason its needed is, since you are wrapping the bracket around the old one, the width will be wider, this "step" keeps the width at the original width so you dont have to pile up a bunch of washers to make it fit.

If you really dont think you have it on there, take your lca, snd fit it inbetween the bracket, if it slides in without much room around it- then your fine, if not, then you would be missing it.

hopefully i went into enough detail... if not let me know
