wow, $1240 worth of repairs!!
It all started one night when me and some friends were bored, and I said, lets go do some donuts. Well we went to the local elementary school parking lot around 12am and I did some donuts. While doing these donuts I heard a loud "pop" , suddenly I lost all power steering. I have driven for about 5k miles without power steering and just now decided to take it to the dealer. I know I should take better care of my car, but I drive the hell out of it, and love every second. When I took it to the dealer they checked it out and came to the conclusion I needed:
New Rack and Pinion
New Power Steering Pump
$1240.00
All I could say was, WOW. Anyone ever had this problem? I cant afford it, they said my car was unsafe to drive, and im gonna have to drive it on a trip to Daytona beach, and I live in Atlanta, so I hope it holds up!!!!!! <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" />

I think it will hold up OK, foregoing if there is any hidden damage from your donut experience. Is it pulling to one side? Did you take the PS and belts off? If not, at a minimum you should take the PS steering pump off.
I had a Rx-7 I took PS steering off and it was great. But it was only a 2700lb car, not a 3500lb F-body

Well the dealer wants $587 for a REMAN rack, they aren't available new from GM. Mind you, that's retail. Not sure about the pump, but when I was looking last year, someone offered me their pump/rack, still connected for $100. It's a pain in the ***, since the D/S of the motor has to be jacked up to get the rack bolt to clear, but I've done it 3 times now, and have it down to about an hour and a half by myself. Put a "WTB" out on the classifeds, and see what you get. There are plenty of hardcore guys who have done away with their power setup!
