from what i had read, they lower the car about 2" and you cant really alter the height except to let all the air while you are in a parking lot etc.
changing the air pressure in the bags simply changes the springrate of them

Very cool.. I figured it would be much the same as the setups for other cars. ride height from 4x4.. to on the bump stops.
What controller did you get for it... the digital ride Pro? Is each corner adjustable independently? Man I really wanted to put my old camaro on air. Never had the money to get it though. Wicked setup.

Raising the car is done by adding pressure, so the "springs" are more firm, which is how they hold the car up. But, lower it to get a good stance and CG height, and you have to let air out and soften them up.
They claim you can adjust firmness and ride height, and you can. Just now how one would want or expect.

I think some people are missing the advantages of an air suspension. I want my car to be real low, but I can only see it when I'm outside the vehicle. Once I driving I can't see the ride height. So what you can do is set up a nice compromise in ride height, like a 1-1.5" drop to get the car aligned at. Then when you park, the system can drop it down to the bumpstops so it looks killer when you walk away or towards it. When you get in and crank it up it automatically raises to your preset ride height. Then when you see a steep drive way, push a button and the car goes all the way up to give you more ground clearance.
From those aspects alone, I like the air ride systems a lot. It's mainly the unknown spring rate at ride height and the shock valving that concerns me as I have no idea if it can be made to handle really well.
Amit, what can you say about the suspension feel?

You'd have to call up the company and ask them. I'm sure they use specially modified shocks to seal up the air bags. How they go together, I don't know. I'm guessing they only offer the one shock for our cars.
I also saw some air ride shocks for our cars for about $525 a pair. Half the price of the Air Rides. I think they use a different brand shock. I'll look it up and post back.

You can't use any other shocks on the front, because it's an assembly. Air ride is cool looking, but not really useful to me.
Spring rates are unknown and change related to air pressure. The shocks are poor as they have the same kind of not so hot adjustment as QA1 and Strange shocks to which is not velocity sensititve. Frankly I'm sure the guts of the fronts shock are one of those two. Again, not gas-charged with leads to oil foaming and shock fade and that's made worse here because of airbag insulating and surrounding the front shock. I'm not much for being able to adjust height on the move anyway, but every time you change the height you are altering your alignment. And here's one. Ride. If you have a known weight of car, and you want a certain ride height you need a certain spring rate to get it and it doesn't matter whether the springs are air springs or coil springs. Note that there cars out there with "air suspensions" and coil spring suspensions as options. The performance minded Mercedes Benz use more standard suspensions.
Air suspensions have a purpose, looks. If that's what you're after that cool. But for technical, make the car work purposes, I'll pass.
YMMV, but you should know the details before laying out lots of money. And FWIW, coil-spring cars don't ride bad. Bad coil spring rates and even more importantly poor or inadequate shock ride badly.

Hey Sam, I had a wild idea last night to combine both suspension designs. Check out this thread and tell me what you think.
