wheel size combination??

wheel size combination?? Would I get better traction/handling with wider wheels in the rear. for example, ZR1 wheels, 17x9 in front and 17x11 in the rear. I have had a few people tell me that its better to run the same size all around, which seems kinda odd, why do vettes have different size wheels. Even the cart and formula cars ahve bigger wheels in the back. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Re: wheel size combination?? For track use, the 15 inch wheels are the best because of more sidewall for more grip on the rear. The lighter the wheel, the better. Get a good drag radial or a slick. I like nitto's for street and strip. The front wheels should be as small as possible for better weight transfer with a small tire. If you just drive on the street and want around performance, then go with 16's or 17's. It depends on your taste and preference. Me, I like speed and concentrate on that accordinlgy. Therefore, decide and go with the flow.

The more nose-heavy f-body's handling will be more balanced if the tires are the same front-to-rear. Wider tires and wheels are for looks and straight line traction. For the street, 17x10 or even 18x10.5" will fit under the front fenders.
Also, you want to keep the same tire diameters front and back so as not to throw off the ABS and ASR.
For the strip, go with Kent's recommendation.
