I've seen them both ways. I'm not entirely sure it really matters. In fact, if that's a Baer setup, I think those are supposed to be facing that way. Could be wrong.

There installed correctly . You must check the way the cooling vanes are curved for proper install.

Slot the error (or maybe I'm wrong?)

See if you can spot the error.

This is the LPE 427 TT vette, from that site.

I thought that the slotted rotors were suppossed to face the other direction???

Re: Slot the error (or maybe I'm wrong?)

Should the cooling lines "fling" exhaust gasses out or draw cooling air in? I thought I had read on brembo's site that the cooling vanes should be tilted away from the direction of motion, i.e. flinging the heat and brake pad material outward. Most of the pics I've seen here on ls1tech have the cooling vanes installed the opposite direction.

Re: Slot the error (or maybe I'm wrong?)

Interesting, so Baer has "reverse slot" rotors. I guess the other rotor installs I've seen must have been normal slot rotors then. I think the LG motorsports install pictures were the ones I was looking at where the slots were in the other direction. I guess the LG motorsports are traditional slot rotors. Very interesting. I guess every rotor manufacturer is different. Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Slot the error (or maybe I'm wrong?)

On any of the NASA American Iron Cars I've worked on, they usually run the slots outward...starting in the center and working to clear the pad material from the rotor face. On cars that the slots run like that picture, I have seen pad material build up (under extreme use) and cause issues with brake performance. The cooling vanes should be drawing air out from the center of the rotor and that is the most important aspect (My friend reversed his front rotors at road atlanta once...he was in a hurry, and he wound up in the wall after the brakes failed...he was ok and the car is now fixed, but it was a hard lesson). So, I would never reverse the cooling vanes to make the slots sweep "outward", it is a bad idea. It looks like I'll be at the NASA evend on Feb 23rd at Virginia International Raceway (unless something changes), to crew cheif for my friends American Iron Extreme team, if anyone is going to be there, drop me a line and maybe I can put a face with some of the names around here....

Kevin.
