Default Can Koni DA's double as a drag shock?

Now, I know these are not drag shocks. I don't want to be lectured on what they are and are not made for.

With that said, I don't want to ride around on a mushy drag suspension. I know what I want, and that would require Koni's as a proper spring damper. I will probably also go with the Hotchkis 1" springs for my street car. I want a drop, but nothing extreme and certainly nothing harsh. I think this setup can do that for me, based on the research i've done.

Now, I do drag race this car from time to time (though again, it will not be a "drag car" so to speak, in terms of how it is built) so let's think about the Koni DA's for a minute as opposed to the SA's with that in mind.

With the ability to adjust the bound, as opposed to only rebound, would dropping it all the way down to promote weight transfer help plant the tires on a hard launch? If it is a miniscule difference I won't bother but if it really could help would it be worth the extra $ and trouble to adjust and set them back for street use? If not I will just get the SA's.

Any opinions or experience would be useful.

I've read on here 1.7 for the SA. Do a search.

On my buddies 99SS, they were still too hard when on full soft.

What do you consider too hard?

I would like to know if any reduction in 60 ft can be had, and if not i'll just get the SA's.

DA's aren't going to be any better for a drag application than are SA's (the rebound range is the same, and full soft on compression is where the SA's are set on compression).

I'd have to recommend SA's (knowing that DA's are very cheap--more on that later). SA's have the provision to lower the car slightly that DA's do not have. SA's have a lifetime warranty, and SA's are brand-new freshly built shocks. DA's are no better in most applications (I own sets of both and race on SA's). The "cheap" DA's are left over stock that are over 4 years old and there have been some instances of leaking seals. And DA's are definitely more prone to failure even when fresh (not junk by any means, but there are more parts), and easier to bottom out internally because of the way the compression adjuster is setup.

I agree with Sam's assessment.

If you are gonna drag race, you need a shock designed for that kind of weight transfer.

That wasn't the point. The point was DA's are not adjustable to be "better" for drag racing than are SA's. Koni's can drag race just fine thanks, and poster stated first thing he didn't want a musy drag race suspension.
