Default Pickin the brains of suspension experts!

Hey guys, my goal is eventually to run autox and rr. However, I have a very rudimentary knowledge of how suspension components work to adjust the handling of our cars. I want to find out as much as I can about how different shocks/springs (and other suspension components) can change the handling effects. My goal is to be able to learn enough to be able to design and fine-tune my own suspension. If anyone has any wisdom, advice, or links... I'm ready to learn.

Fred Puhn has a book or 2 on chassis setup that are worth reading as well. (I have the herb adams book and fred's books....both are worth the $$$).

Adams: read cover to cover;
Phun: more intensive/detailed;
both are very good books
(if you like cars, you gotta have 'em);

Awesome... any books that look at it from a driver's standpoint as well as an engineering standpoint? I mean might as well try and look at it from both sides if the fence if you're gonna try and stand on both sides as well.

Pick up a copy of Chassis Engineering by Herb Adams. He's an ex-suspension engineer for Pontiac. The book is very good at introducing some of the basic theory and how you can translate that to your street car.

Yep Caroll Smith fills my bookshelf. Along with Race Car Vehicle Dynamics, although that's not your light bedtime reading material.
