Default Putting 44" Superswampers on Z28

I think they will fit with this ugly azz wheel gap!!!

OK now really, whats the cheapest way to safely drop the car 1" to 1.5"? I dont race (maybe go to the track once or twice a year) and I am completely happy with the handeling of the stock system. As long as it does not handle worse then stock, what can I do thats very inexpensive to drop this so it looks better?

99 Z28 with stock wheels
