Default adjusting parking brake

I have to pull my parking brake lever almost straight up to get it to work. Anyone else have this problem? Is there anyway to adjust it? I tried searching but came up with nothing helpful. Haynes manual doesn't have anything either.

A lot of people have this problem. I looked into the Haynes manual and it said to take it to a dealer for them to adjust it.

The more expensive Helms manual should tell you how to adjust it and I'm sure a couple of people on here could tell us how to do it.

Default e-brake adj.

under the rotor there are small conventional breke shoes, there is a small thumb wheel at the bottom,it's just like adj. the old style brake shoes. there might be a slot to adj from inside the backing plate. i changed the rotors and adj. mine hope this helps 02 hawk blk,blk m6. and i approve this message !

billyb is right. Just pull the wheel and disk off. Adjust until you can just slip the disk back on. That takes care of it.

If you do a search there was a thread not too long ago about how to adjust it.

i thought it was supposed to be self adjusting by locking it and disengaging it 3 times quickly?

Here's the thread.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...=Parking+brake

or here is the one post you really need to read

FYI the teeth need to be turned the opposite direction of what the post says. I learned this after messing with mine for a while and realized the brake was only getting worse
