Question Can I get away driving my car without a rear swaybar around the neighborhood?

I need to do some testing to see if the rubbing is deffinately the rear sway with the rearend cover. I figured I would just take it off and drive up and down the block to see if the sway is what is causing the loud noise and vibrations.

You can do that. It isn't structural so nothing will break. It might handle funny, but it will get you an answer.

Great, anybody know the torque specs on a rear hotchkis sway bar?

I usually go "snug, plus 1/4 turn". I'm not sure if there is a torque spec on them (I'm sure there is, but I can't remember seeing one), so I just snug them down pretty well and I've never had one come off.

I drove my car several times without the front or rear sway bars on it.
No big deal, you just have to keep in mind they are gone.

FWIW Hotchkis writes in thier install directions to tighten down until the bushings just start to buldge.
