Spare Tire Installed-Help Smooth the Ride?
I just installed my new Koni SA's and I thought the rear would be a little less bouncy with the Konis. The rear still has a tendancy to bounce over the rough roads here in Southern California. I now have my spare tire laying flat on the rear seats (folded down).
I began to think that maybe (like a pick up truck) my car might ride a little better in the rear with an extra 50 lbs hanging off the back of the chassis. I also need to check the rear tire PSI. I think I pumped them up to about 34 two weeks ago for MPG on my trip to Sandy Ego.
And I am pretty sure I set the Koni's on full soft in the rear too.
The front also rides a little too harsh could lowering the rebound help that?
EDIT: I checked the rear tire PSI. They were both at about 30 PSI.

Like there is a harsh bump on my rear end in the upper direction. They do not 'bounce' at all. It is like someone is hitting the bottom of the tire with a hammer. It is a rough ride, but a very controlled ride.

You've only got 30psi in your tires and the konis are on full soft and it is a harsh ride??? I may not get these afterall.... I could give a **** less about controlled. I'm trying not to get beat to death anymore and I heard these were good because they absorbed bumps well. So whats your full take on this and what springs do you have in your car with the koni's? Are you comparing the ride to stock shocks/springs? Could you elaborate on the ride quality please?

They are stock springs w/ 121 K miles on them. I just thought maybe I had done something wrong.
My take is that this is one of the BEST mods for any Fbody. The handling is far superior to the stock shocks.

How tight did you tighten the rear upper and lower shock mounts?
I tightened the upper mounts until the rubber was compressed a fair amount, but not too much.

Sam said that as long as my springs aren't sagging, that they aren't worn out.
Also my right rear side sits lower by about 3/4 inch than the pass side; I don't know how much that matters though.
I think my spring perch on the drivers side stis lower than on the pass side.
