Good street/strip setup for traction
my car is stock right now (as far as suspension) it doesnt even have sfc's the car obviously does not hook on the street or the strip. my best 60' to date is a 2.165......pathetic.
i would like a setup that is not like, FULL drag race and useless on the street, but something that hooks well and will get my 60's down around the 1.6 range atleast.
the car will have pro stars with a mt drag radial and skinnies on front for the strip, and stock 17's with MAYBE a drag radial for the street.
its a 99 camaro ss M6.
so, let me have it. what have you guys been succesful with? i asked on another board and got the answer "bmr + qa1's = wheels up launches"
thats all well and good, but i would like it a lil more in depth. im new to this suspension stuff.
thanks for any help.
BTW search isnt working for me for some reason. so i started my own thread, because i didnt feel like searching through a thousand other ones. so sorry if this is a question that is repeated alot.

if you get components with poly bushings you won't sacrifice much ride quality
i've got QA1 coil-overs at all 4 corners, and i LOVE the ride quality, and with the single adjustable shocks i can adjust them for the track.

If you get poly bushings you will start picking up alot more road noise. Nobody ever told me this 1 simple fact. Right after I had the Torque Arm upgraded to aftermarket I started hearing alot more gear whine ect. Now the car will hit a 1.67 60 ft. no complaints but there is alot more road noise. Alot of people I know buy sound deading material and put it between the carpet and floorboards.

so the torque arm is probably the most important piece?
and to the guy at bmr, i may be giving you a call.
also, i have true duals. are they gonna get in the way of the torque arm do you think?
i hope not.

Get this in this order:
Polyeurethane Torque Arm Bushing set ($12 from Summit) *you wont break these until a much higher power level*
Subframe connectors (weld on... EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PIECE)
LCAs with poly bushings and RELOCATION BRACKETS!!! (no matter what it's a must)
Panhard Rod (adjustable if you go with lowering springs)
Good set of rear shocks
Springs

Polyeurethane Torque Arm Bushings? i went on a few online sites and all they said was it helped traction. my question is what exactly do they do and how do they do it. call me skeptical but if a $12 thing could really make such a huge diff, wouldn't i have heard of it already? all anyone talks about as far as beginning suspension mods are stb's and sfc's.

You dont need a whole bunch of suspension mods to cut a good 60ft. You just need a good rearend (9" or 12 bolt), good tires and some seat time. Im cutting 1.66-1.69 60fts with completely stock suspension, 9" with 3.89 gears, and some old MT ET streets.
But if your looking to improve like me then go with lca relocation brackets, TA, SFC, and some adjustable shocks.

You know how it's usually made of hard rubber in order to absorb vibrations and prevent the motor from moving so much?
Well it's more or less the same thing. They sell motormounts that are polyurethane which are like an even HARDER rubber like material.... it lasts long and adds more rigidty to the car.... the only drawback is you'll hear more noise and get more vibrations inside the car because it doesn't absorb vibrations as well as softer materials...
