Default Steering column What did I screw up?

Yesterday I took off my steering wheel to replace the clockspring. What a PIA. I had difficulty getting everything back together. It seems the shaft has moved down too far. I finially got it together and the steering shaft has way too much looseness in it. I am guessing that there is a bearing and race that is not matchng up that I cannot see. Is there a trick to getting the shaft aligned?
