Default Those of you with tubular k-members...

...do you use your car as an everyday driver? I was recently in a small accident and I think there is a little damage to the k-member. I am thinking of switching to a tubular k-member but I have heard of people having problems with welds breaking. My car has 140k miles on it, and I still drive it everyday and it gets used for road racing(not streetracing) so I need something that can stand the hard abuse. What are your thoughts?

Look into UMI's streetable version, looks like a very sturdy piece. I have a bmr tubular in my car with no problems so far, but then again it isnt a daily driver.

I will be going with the UMI piece just because they say it is strong enough for the street. My car will see more street than track use.

Strength was a big concern of mine when Ryan mentioned to me he wanted to start building k-members, and we discussed it at length. And if you look a pictures of UMI's vs. anyone else's k-member, the UMI is much more beefy, but still 25 lighter than stock. I gave Ryan some ideas about what I'd do, including the two cross tubes and gussets, and I'm happy to report he integrated those thing into the part, as well as some other things we discussed.

Due to the fact I know what went into the UMI part, and the fact that I've battle-tested some of their other stuff it's really the only way I'd go. Clearly since they were the only one's concerned enough to actutally incorporate the added strength in a known weak area.

$479.00 is what they cost and right now they are running about 7-10 days to be shipped. And as usual, any customer of mine is privy to all the alignment and setup information I have.
