Exclamation z06 rotors

I have a 2000 trans am ws6 with stock brakes/rotors,, would a set of 4 c5 z06 rotors with less than 1000 miles on them be worth 175$?, and if so any improvement from my stock rotors?,, I'm currently tryin to improve my brakes (mine feel weak compared to my brothers corvette, and I want the same feel if not better than his c5),, would just changeing the rotors/calipers to c5 z06 ones be all I need to do to acheive that?

2 different questions in there sorry bout that lol

Thanks in advance
Michael

C5 front rotors are larger than f-body front rotors so you need brackets to move the caliper outward for them to fit. If you search you'll find plenty of info on it.

I don't think C5 rear rotors will fit the rear at all. Anyone know more?

Also.....I would never buy used rotors.
Its just not worth it.

Well lets say I just change the front brakes to c5 z06 brakes,, how much will that improve? Or is there a better brake kit out there that'll run me for about the same price? I want to change all my brakes at once if there's any real need to do it

It's a good upgrade to do. You don't "need" it unless you're doing road racing, but they are nice to have. Look up "trackbrackets" and you'll find some info on them.

The C5 and the C5 z06 brakes are identical. Just use the search tool and you will find a ton of information on doing the upgrade to the c5 brakes. You cant use the rear c5 rotors so dont buy them.

Also just so you know, the front rotors only cost 25 bucks a piece, so delete who ever is in your phone book trying to sell you those rotors for 175 bucks

Ok, new question for you then, Should I

A. buy front z06 calipers, keep my rear ones stock, and just new rotors? maybe go 12.8" in the front and 12" in the back or would 12" in the back not fit my stock rear caliper?,,

B. front/rear brake kit for my car

I'm not looking to spend ALOT but if im going to spend the money i want it to look good/perform good, if B what companies would have a kit better than A?

The C5 are 12.8, or you can go with Z51 C6 brackets using the c5/c6 calipers and use the 13.4 inch rotors.

And your back rotors are already 12inch

keep the back brakes about stock, maybe a better pad. already too much rear bias. C5 rotors are dirt cheap brand new, one of the reasons ppl go with the setup. for the back, u could get the Brembo OEM blanks for some tough as hell rotors.

id go with the c5 brake trackbrackets if u can find them(pm me if u need some more info), the originals and proven

Yea, C5 rotors themselves are quite cheap in comparison to a full on setup.
I laugh at ignorant self for heaving my stocker brake system at the junkyard with 1K miles on 'em, I never knew F-Bodies sought after them dang it.

You might want to check out down the road, just some slotted rotors and some good pads, you'll have better, more consistent braking than a stock C5Z. It's a bit pricier, but very worth the money. (Don't bother with crossdrilled, not worth a lick IMHO)
