Calling Sam the Man & all Koni owners.(pics) Hello LS1 members,
I own a 1998 Z28/SS package with 120,000 miles and the suspension is fully stock. I have read some threads about Koni SA shocks and was wondering if they are worth the money? I'm planning to lower my car too. I have a set of DMS springs that have been in my closet for over a year.
Money has been tight lately, but I want the best for my car. Any info on how your car drove after installing the Koni's would really help. Mr. Strano if you are reading this, any expert advice would help. How much would a set of Koni's set me back shipped to 91406 in California? Here are a few pictures of my 10 footer. I call it that because it looks good from 10 feet away and it rides like a old pickup truck.

The koni SA's are great if your picky about the ride as they let you adjust the firmness. In full soft with stock springs it should ride cadillac smooth. Firmer springs are a good choice as the performance and feel improve without the ride going back to being harsh. You can then dial in the ride quality you want without going too far. Tire pressures and ride height also effect the ride. Going too low in the ride height with not enough spring rate can cause you to use the bumpstops more aggressively and it hurts the ride quality.
If money is tight and you don't really care about adusting anything, then the Bilsteins are a good choice.

4/3 konis is 4th gen front and 3rd gen back. The 3rd gen rears are less adjustable but cheaper. The 4/4 konis are 4th gen front and rear. The 4th gen rear and more adjustable but more expensive. Konis are well worth the money!

Any real help I can give would have to come via a phone call. I can tell you this: I highly doubt you'll find anyone with Koni's who regrets making that move. I run them on my car--if that matters.
Shocks are the lynch-pin to a good suspension on this car (any car, we just have particularly poor stock ones).
I'd be happy to give you some pricing, but we'd need to discuss which Koni's first. They start @ about $740 for a set. Revalves are $530/set.

I have totally stock springs, sways, brakes,all with 125K miles, and the SA Konis changed the handling immensly. I thave them set a little too soft right now(5 from full firm) so this weekend I am going to bump them up to 3 from full firm and see how that goes
Next step will be some stock low mile springs and some strano sways. The roads here in So Cal SUCK BIG time and I really cannot stand the ride as it is and I wont be going to lowering springs.
