Default can you do poly trans mount with stock motor mounts?

hey guys my stock trans and ta mounts are worn out and I want to replace them. I'm kinda a suspension newb but it seems like I read a few post a long time ago about not doing the poly trans without the poly motor mounts. Any help on best brand and price along with fast shipping would be great too. Thanks

You can just do a poly tranny mount with out the motor mounts, that's what im running. Do yourself a favor and get a prothane tranny mount. it bolts right up and i experienced no additional vibration. you can get them through summit or jegs or from some board sponsers. good luck.

Yes, you can. I had a poly trans mount installed to reduce y-pipe movement after it started rattling too much on the floorpan. It really helped.

It is not recommended but you can. If you are only doing one end it is better to do the motor mounts. That is a good mod anyway. The transmission mount...you may not be pleased with the results.

Poly mounts tend to transfer a little more vibration than rubber.
For some people it's unbearable, for others it's insignificant.

I've had them on all three of my Fbodies and am willing to tolerate it.
I've broken too many rubber ones.

At least for automatic cars, you get a lot of vibrations, especially the ones over 65mph.

You get used to the vibration. I had both on the bird, and after a while, you don't even notice it. Really stiffens up the slop in the drivetrain. Worthwhile.

You can just run the trans mount, but its a good idea to get the motor mounts also when you get a chance.

I did not. The stocker is going back in.

I have read that the autos seem to vibrate more with the poly mounts than the manuals, but I can't prove that.

I ran just the poly tranny mount for a long time before doing the motor mounts and liked it.

i have prothane trans mount and prothane motor mounts. befor i installed the motor mounts i just had the trans mount, the vibration was real bad so i took it out and filled the hole in the stocker up with subfloor adhesive let it dry and installed the filled trans mount. worked great, less vibration and the shifter didnt bounce all over on bumpy roads. after i did prothane motor mounts i put the prothane trans mount back in and the vibration seemd to be much less noticable.

ive heard the energy suspension trans mount is a little softer than the prothane which will decrease vibration.

just thought id add my .02

I'm getting vibration also lately. When I accelerate from a light in give it alittle gas and start moving it vibrates alittle sometimes it feels like the car is jumping alittle and when I'm going up a hill slow it vibrates. Does this sound like bad worn out tranny mounts?

i have the poly mount and i must say....as soon as i did it, i loved it. my shifter doesn't move quite as much and yes there is a little bit more vibration but after a week you get used to it which sucks. i personally loved the way it felt...a little bit stiffer shifter is what i got out of it.

I can't imagine anything giving more vibration than a cam does. For those that complain about mount vibration, then do not get a cam, because you would probably pull it back out. I will be doing the trans mount and motor mounts in a couple weeks to take some of the slop out.
