Default can you over tighten endlinks on a sway bar?

Hey guys, I have had a sway bar on my car for about 6 months and now the rearend pops when I hit bumps..pretty bad like something is loose under there. Nothing is loose because I went and tightened everything that was under there. My question is: Can I possibly have over tightened the endlinks? I really tightened them when I installed it!
Thanks in advance

Yes. I forgot the exact number. Something low like 13ft-lbs. Bushings you can tighten more. And all that must be done with the car supported by the wheels. Or have jackstands under the axle to simulate that.

Yes, you can overtighten links. They only need to have no play in them, anything tighter is too much.

So when they are compressed on one end and pretty much look like small pancakes then that means that they might be to tight? haha

Mine makes the same popping sound against the 12 bolt since my install. I assume I just need new bushings to bring it down some.

The directions that came with mine say "tighten until bushings begin to bulge". That's word-for-word from the instruction paper. I have no weird noises whatsoever though.

Ive ALWAYS tightened them til they started to squish alittle. I have poly front and back on my TA, and I installed them just like every other one Ive ever done. Tightened them until there was compression on all 4 bushings per link. And I always match them side for side by leaving the same amount of threads exposed on the ends. Never had any noises or issues. In fact, any time I have something with bushings like that (shocks, other steering parts) I always compress the bushings alittle.

I dont squish them until they are about to flatten into pancakes though... that might be a tad much

Did you happen to install a BMR torque arm with a 12-bolt? I was told there is a popping sound that happens with these parts if you don't cut the torque arm. Just a thought (I have a thread going about the cutting part but no responses yet...).

Quick Reply: can you over tighten endlinks on a sway bar?
