Default brake caliper placement

why is it that the front brake calipers on performance cars, including ours, are positioned at the rear of the rotor, whereas the calipers of other cars and almost all trucks are located towards the front or top-front of the rotor??

Some Ferrari's are located on the bottom.

I don't think it actually matters. I may be wrong though. I've seen them here and there. Even the LGMotorsports bracket relocated the Caliper to the bottom of the rotor so, . . .
