They won't bolt on directly. While the spacing on the bolts is close, the C5 bolts are 14mm, while the f-body bolts are only 12mm. It *MIGHT* be possible to drill the holes out, but that is NOT recommended. Also, the C5 pistons are SMALLER than f-body pistons. F-body caliper pistons are 44 mm, where as the C5 piston size is only 40.5mmm. Because the C5 rotor is 13" (the f-body rotors are 12") the caliper has more leverage and thus doesn't need pistons are large.

What you can do is convert to C5 front brakes (C5 calipers, rotors, pad bracket, and pads). You need a bracket to bolt the C5 pad bracket onto to. I recommend these: http://www.hotpart.com/index.php?p=show&id=177

They are probably the best brackets on the market: strong and light. With this setup, you will need to run 17" wheels.

Wow, that's a lot of words...While you may feel they will not bolt on directly, My SS didn't get that Memo.

WS6Guy25, I didn't see where you were asking about the C5 rotors or pad brackets, so to answer your question, C5 calipers will bolt on.

Interesting. What bolts did you use to bolt the caliper to the pad bracket? Did you drill out your pad bracket to accept C5 bolts?

All Stock Hardware, no drilling required. Bought the Z06 Calipers over the counter at the local Chevy Stealership.

Surprising. That is the exact opposite of what I read on Frrax. Either way, I know for sure the C5 calipers have smaller pistons than the factory LS1 calipers. If you really want C5 calipers, I would just do the swap and use C5 rotors and use the brackets. Swapping to C5 calipers but using the stock rotors only DECREASES brake performance.

I've read that as well and that data is wrong. It's a common assumption, though.

On my CMC car, C5 calipers bolt right up to the F-Car abutment bracket. The hardware difference is in the size of bolt head, not the actual bolt size. The C5 caliper bolt has a larger head.

The only issue that concerns me with this swap is the C5 calipers are wider between the ears and caliper body in order to accept a thicker 13" C5 rotor. The thinner 12" F-car rotors will cause the pistons in the C5 caliper to extend out really far when the brake pads get really thin.

Having said that, I ran my Carbotech Brake Pads (best damn brake pads made, BTW) all the way to the backing plates at Pueblo MSP without an issue.

Take it for what it's worth.

Thanks for the info Mitch. I knew you and Glen were running C5 calipers on your CMC cars, but I could have sworn you had drilled out your PAB's.

You guys getting ready for CMC '08?

The caliper bolts to the guide pins and the pins go inside the PABs. Not sure what those guys were describing.

Still basking in 07 ... Glenn took the regional points Championship in CMC and I was the CMC2 Champ.

We're actually building yet another car ... #5 for LAW Motorsports. It's a 94 Formula with 97 drive train. And we have several looking seriously at the car ... one from Wisconsin! The said he had an R7U ... didn't know that was a Canadian version of a 1LE. Learn something new, every day.

So ... Maybe you need to look into CMC racing?

CMC looks like tons of fun, but I'm currently in pretty deep with my C4 (and getting deeper all the time). I may regret it, but we will see where it goes (at least until I get out of school anyway).

Is Nasa running two events again this year @ TWS or are they replacing the second one with one of the new tracks?

NASA will run a normal event in August.

In April, they have an enduro scheduled for the Sunday event. Not sure how that plays out for the regular weekend revelers yet.

Do the rear ZO6 calipers fit as well? I know most people only do the fronts...

Nope. The C5 and LS1 rear calipers have almost the exact same specs (other than the mounting), so there is no functional reason to swap over.
