Brake time

Okay I have did a search and came up with nothing. I need to get a new set of brake pads and rotors. My car is a dd and see's minimal track time. A couple of friends of mine saw sparks shooting from them as me and my buddy were racing. I plan on ordering these today so your help asap is appreciated.

I am looking at the hawk hps pads and brembo blank rotors. Should I consider drilled or slotted or any other pads?

I had baers front drilled and slotted on my LS1 and they worked great

Sounds like a solid setup, most drilled and slotted don't offer any substantial improvement, mainly cosmetic. The brembo blanks should perform better. Only thing is the brembo's aren't zinc coated, if you're looking for that. No rust with the zinc.

Who makes zinc coated blanks that perform good?

Not many, I think I contacted iRotors at one time about doing this, might try them out. More than likely will have to call or e-mail places, as many dont advertise blanks, mostly all drilled or slotted. Although they can usually do blanks.

EBC make some black zinc slotted and dimppled rotors not drilled, in black they look sweet i just ordered a set for my car and i run hawk high performance ceramic pads. Ws6 store sell them, they are a awsome sponsor.

Detoxx03 02-19-2008 04:51 PM

i'll check into it cause I need to get them like yesterday

Detoxx03 02-19-2008 05:54 PM

How do they perform? So should I go with brembo blanks or ebc slotted?

Arctic2002ss 02-19-2008 05:59 PM

Good quality blanks should be fine. I have Powerslot rotors and did not really notice any benefit from the slots. Going to ceramic pads is what made a difference. They have survived a lot of abuse, including 4 HPDEs, with no problems though.

I just painted the Brembos when I got them; works good if you can spare a day for the paint to dry.

Detoxx03 02-19-2008 07:51 PM

Well I ordered them from strano. ^ What type of paint do you use?

Viper 02-19-2008 08:46 PM

I used high temp engine paint from autozone. Did the calipers at the same time. And the caliper bracket.

Detoxx03 02-19-2008 09:02 PM

Cool. I already have plans to paint the calipers but might to the rotors too while my hood is getting painted.
