Boxed weld in subframes or Tube Bolt ins? That is the question. I narrowed it down to the UMI bolt in subrames or the Boxed weld ins. Even though I want the bolt ins, I will get them welded later on after I bolt them in. Which are realy better? Or does it matter? |
i think the boxed are a little stronger than the tubular, but with less ground clearance. i used to only want boxed. but after a lot of reading there are a lot of people with tubular. so i am going with the umi tubular sfcs and then im going to get them welded. |
I don't know, the boxed just look tough. |
We have tubular CM weld ins that are very strong. I'm not a fan of bolt ins. |
It depends on your expectations. If you are going to road race, I would do boxed. Stronger structurally, but the clearance issue is a PITA. If not, I would go tubular. And weld in, either way, just because. |
Hello, We have good luck with both the tubular style and boxed style, for strength reasons you would be fine with either choice. A few things that might help you make a decision- The tubular ones are available with the bolt in option but can be welded at any time. The boxed are not and are weld in only. The tubular set-up tucks up a lot tighter to the vehicle and can not be seen from the side of the vehicle. The boxed hang down slightly and if a bright color such as red is chosen they may be visible if you do not have ground effects. But the boxed do not reduce ground clearance. If I can help anymore please ask. Thank you! Ryan |
I have kenny brown boxed weld-in and they tuck up real nice. I had a chassis shop put them in for me. No matter what weld them in. |
get the tubular bolt ins, and get them welded, you won't notice a difference in the two. You are going to be just fine my friend :) |
I put in a set of 3 point bolt in UMI's last night and the fit and look is awesome. UMI has some of the best stuff out. Very nice product. |
Are the UMI boxed subframes realy noticable if painted black? Eather way I am pretty sure I will go with the tube bolt ins then get them welded later. |
