This is exactly why they have warranties against Manufacturer's Defects. There was definitely something wrong with that shock.

Koni shock failed? I'm very surprised this happened, shouldn't be a problem at all to have it replaced since they have lifetime warranty.

warranty through koni is a breeze, I had my rear shocks replaced as a dealership said they were bad, this was under extended warranty of my car. I told koni what they said and they said they would replace them but they doubt there was anything wrong. Well better safe than sorry, I gave koni my CC to put a hold on the card for the amount of the shocks, they sent me new ones. I replaced them with the old ones. I spend 20 dollars and shipped the old ones back to koni. They dropped the hold on my CC. Guys at koni are very nice and easy to deal with. Good luck

Damn Joey that really sucks. Were you working on it today?

Who did you buy them from? Seems like a crazy part of the shock to snap in half. Hopefully a certain batch of these won't all be defected like this.

I hate to say, but from the pics, I would have to agree. The threads look messed up... shouldn't have caused that though

The part that looks messed up is the flattened part where you grab onto the shock to tighten the nut so it doesn't twist. In the pics only about 1.8 on an inch above the nut is the actual threads. Everything above that is the flat part to grab onto.
