I use Hawks HPS pads, they are low dust when they get broken in.
As far as rotors, get the cheapest you can find.
A supervisor at Centric parts told me all brake rotors come from china as blanks, then most companies do thier own mods to them like cryo treating, drilling, slotting, etc.
There is one Aimco number for 100's of different brands and styles of the same f body front rotor.
This obviously doesn't apply to high end racing rotors.
I'd get a cheap plain or slotted rotor.
I have WS6 Store house brand slotted C5 up front and PBT slotted in the back. They have the silver coating so the hat part stays rust free.

That's simply not true.

A lot of rotors are Chinese, expecially the cheap ones. ATE's aren't, Brembo's aren't. We have "cheap" rotors too, and they act like it. I tried a few sets of them. The weight varied greatly, as much as 3 pound less than quality replacement, and in rotors mass = the ability to absorb and expel heat. The inability to do so is one factor in warping.

We pretty much only recommend and sell Brembo's or ATE PremiumOne rotors. And we almost exclusively use Hawk pads.

go for Bear EradiSpeed+ Rotors (They are drilled and slotted, the front ones are two piece and the rears are one piece they are 65 1bs. lighter than the stock discs).
and the best pads are Carbotech Performance Brake Pads, They produce 0 dust, but they do squeak when they are cold.

The guy I talked to was in the chinese rotor bussiness.
I'm sure any additional info you could provide would be appreciated.
How can you tell by looking at a rotor if it's of good quality, and where it was made?
Like I said, my rotors came from two different suppliers and they look almost identical.
I didn't see the point of so much of that silver plating on the brake surface though, I think that caused my pads to not bed in properly because it was there for at least 50 miles or so.

The part about all blank rotors come from China. That's not true. As for telling the quality of a rotor by just looking, you can't really do that any more than you can tell the quality of a brake pad just by looking at it.

I know they're not all made in china, just the bang for your buck kind that the op might be looking for and most any parts store stuff. They might be alright for normal driving.

But you repeated the claim that they were..... And many are under the assumption that the rotors make the car stop faster. They do not. You buy quality materials that are more warp resistant, that can absorb more heat, that don't wear as quickly. Yes, a cheap white box rotor will stop the car fine. They don't generally weat as well or tolerate abuse as well.

Rotor are made of iron, there are different grades of iron. Rotors can have varying amounts of metal in them. I've seen F-body rotors with half as many vanes (and that much surface area for cooling) as others.

i got summit brand drilled and slotted rotors with hawk pads, and they were a huge improvement over the stock brakes and they look kick ***. but then again my rotors were warped when i bought the car, so anything would be better then that.

I bought Summit brand drilled/slotted with EBC greenstuff pads and I've very happy with them. After almost a full summer of use, no warping or anything yet.

I personally just bought brembo rotors and hawp hps pads, but I bought them from rotorsonline.com, rotorsonline.com can zinc plate them to prevent rust as well as cryogenically treat them. I have found no other supplier which offered these treatments

Good Luck

i'd listen to sam over pretty much anyone else about this kind of stuff...i've needed some new brakes for a while now but i don't think i'll have the money on hand to do them for a few more months lol. btw, i'm loving the prices on the brembos sam, much lower then other places i've seen.

Not to be a wise guy, but I love these brake threads. It's like everyone picks a random pad and rotor and recommends it.

I would say the best bang for your buck are brembo blanks. For ~60 dollars a rotor you get a trackable rotor. I consider the cheapest to be like the autozone rotors, and your paying 20 bucks more which isn't bad in my opinion.
